Shadow Drawing with Jean You

A conceptual project exploring perception, form, and the relationship

between physical objects and their visual traces

"Rooted in the enduring theories of Piaget, Froebel, and Stiny — this design draws from the minds that continue to shape how we learn, play, and make meaning through form."

Piaget's Stages as a Foundation for Interactive Learning Design

"Learning evolves from real-world objects to abstract symbols and play."

Focusing on

Kindergarteners to 1st Graders:

Early learners who begin exploring shapes and geometry, as outlined in the Common Core.

Observing the outcomes would be captivating and rewarding. Children do not only gain an understanding of how three-dimensional objects interact with light, but they also could transform those discoveries into their own unique shadow projections as well as expressive marker drawings for further exploration.

The process reveals a dynamic interplay between form, light, and imagination—visually striking and intellectually stimulating.
